Want to help out your local community, but not sure how? For a sense of belonging, friendship, "giving
back" to society or community camaraderie, we have the group for you - your very own community's HEROES
("Hometown Efforts to Rescue Our Endangered Society")(and a formal 501C3 federal/state nonprofit corporation).
Simply put, it's neighbors helping less fortunate neighbors. The group's main goal is to assist the greater
Mira Mesa and surrounding areas disadvantaged individuals, organizations and public spaces that need clean-up
and fix-it-up support to make them safe. Through a collaborative team of local organizations, businesses and
individuals, we are able to improve our collective community environment and spirit - one person/family/location
at a time.
HEROES welcomes ALL volunteers, whatever talent you can bring, as it's each individual effort teamed together
that makes the collective difference. Several individuals and organizations, including City Councilman Brian
Maienschein, County Supervisor Pam Slater-Price and the Mira Mesa Town Council and Stakeholders endorse HEROES,
and we are continually solidifying additional support and endorsement from our community leaders and businesses.
HEROES collaborates with other community and business groups, but most importantly, it's the people, like YOU,
that make HEROES work. What more could we ask in exchange for giving at most a few hours each month and where
better than in your own backyard?
So MAKE A DIFFERENCE - change a life forever - reach out and DO something NOW!
In only a little over a 18 months, HEROES has painted six senior citizens homes/trailers, cleaned out several
dozen yards/lots, spruced up the senior citizen center and two local parks and the SALK Elementary school fenceline,
as well completely painted our local fire station 38 and we partnered with Rebuilding Together San Diego to help
finish painting the Walker child development center and painting firestation 24 in Kearny Mesa and we even branched
out to help a local church build a "loft" home in Ensenada Mexico (through www.handsofmercy.com - another fabulous
effort we should all support ). Together we can better our neighborhood - one family/person at a time - and have
fun doing it! Please feel free to recommend a needy candidate as well. All we ask is a few hours on an occasional
Saturday to help others, we provide everything else: materials, tools, refreshments, etc… We do ask that you sign
our release from (insert link to file) and essentially self-insure yourself. Thanks in advance for your support - we
all hope to see you soon for any of our very deserving projects - and please pass the word on!
